Fear can have a powerful influence on how we live our lives. You may find yourself avoiding certain situations, places or experiences, even when part of you recognises that the level of fear feels greater than the actual risk.
Over time, avoidance can begin to limit your choices, confidence and sense of freedom. It can also reinforce the expectation that a particular situation is something you cannot manage, making it increasingly difficult to approach.
Therapy provides an opportunity to better understand your fear response and the patterns that may be keeping it going. Together, we can explore the thoughts, expectations, physical responses and avoidance behaviours associated with the fear, while developing different ways of responding when anxiety arises.
My approach integrates Clinical Hypnotherapy with evidence-informed psychological, cognitive and behavioural approaches, tailored to your individual circumstances, needs and goals.
Where appropriate, therapeutic work may also involve gradually approaching feared situations or experiences in a planned and manageable way, rather than continuing to organise life around avoiding them.
Change does not have to happen all at once. The work can progress at a pace that takes account of your individual circumstances and goals.
Taking the Next Step
If fear or avoidance is beginning to restrict what you do or the choices you make, you're welcome to get in touch.
We can discuss what you've been experiencing, how the fear is affecting your life and what you would like to be different.
You don't need to confront everything at once. We can begin by understanding what is happening and take the work from there.
